Klamath River Bird Finder

tour map sample

This tour leads to the best Thrasher sites within the river canyon and most remain the year round. Much of the habitat is juniper-oak-pine with chaparral and small areas of open grass/forbs gradually becoming more coniferous downstream. Other birds found here which are scarce or absent a little further downriver include Black-chinned Hummingbird, Lewis’ Woodpecker, Oak Titmouse, Rock and Canyon Wren, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and, along with Tours 1 and 3, this is the easiest area for finding Common Poorwill, California Towhee and Lesser Goldfinch.
